FEATURES

Made for playing live.

Audio-reactive effects, MIDI learn, pixel-mapped LEDs, VST3 plugin for your DAW. Everything you need to run a show without a lighting tech in the room. The free version runs 1 universe; Premium unlocks all 32.

Audio-Reactive

Plug in a mic or any audio source and your lights follow the music automatically. Tweak how they react to bass, mids, or highs.

Fixture Library

Get started fast with the Cresit cloud library (Premium version), build your own GDTF library, or create using the custom fixture editor.

LED Mapping

Place your lights on a 2D canvas that mirrors your real-world layout, then create your scenes and watch it map across them.

VST3 Plugin

Control your lights directly from Ableton, Logic, or any DAW. Map EMU’s faders to your timeline so lighting runs perfectly in sync with your production.

MIDI Learn

Connect faders, knobs, pads, or foot pedals and map them to anything in EMU with a single click. Just move the control, and EMU learns it.

Oscillators

Add automatic movement to any parameter. Choose from wave shapes like sine or sawtooth, sync to BPM, and layer multiple effects together.

FAQ

Licensing, explained

What’s the difference between free EMU and the paid version?
Free EMU is a full version of the software limited to 1 universe. It includes Art-Net output, DMX output to ENTTEC USB devices, Sound Tracker, DMX/Art-Net monitoring, GDTF import, and the custom fixture editor.A paid license adds multi-universe output (up to 32 universes), MIDI learn, MIDI clock sync, full VST3 fader mapping (512 faders instead of 16), bank and program change, the full Crescit fixture library with weekly updates, and ongoing software updates while your license is active.
Is this a subscription?
No. EMU is a perpetual license. You own it outright. The monthly option is a 12-month installment plan, not a recurring subscription. After 12 payments, the software is yours forever with no further obligation.
Why pay annually instead of monthly?
Two reasons. It’s $20.40 cheaper ($99 instead of $119.40 total), and you own EMU straight away instead of waiting 12 months. If you know you want EMU, annual is the better deal.
What if I stop the monthly payments early?
You have a 3-month grace window. This is a total budget, not one single pause. As long as your combined gap time stays under 3 months, your paid months are saved and you pick up where you left off. If your combined gap time goes over 3 months, the clock resets and you start a new 12-month cycle. During any gap, EMU drops to the free tier. Full features come back the moment you resubscribe. The longest a monthly customer can take to earn perpetual is 15 months (12 paid plus 3 grace).
Can I install EMU on more than one computer?
Yes. Each license covers 2 machines (two Hardware IDs). While you’re paying or within your updates entitlement period, you can swap Hardware IDs as often as you need. Once you’re on a perpetual license with no active subscription, each Hardware ID slot can only be changed once. Make sure you’re on the right machines before letting your subscription lapse.
Will my perpetual license stop working after updates expire?
No. Your perpetual license keeps working fully, including offline, with no internet validation. You keep every paid feature you had. You just won’t receive new features, new fixtures, bug fixes, or OS compatibility patches released after your update period ends.
What does renewal cost, and is it required?
Renewal is optional. Your existing perpetual license keeps working either way. If you do renew, it works like the original purchase. Annual renewal costs $99 and bumps your perpetual version to the current release straight away, with another year of updates. Monthly renewal restarts the $9.95 per month plan, and your perpetual version bumps to whatever is current after 12 payments.
I’m already paying for EMU. Do I get a perpetual license?
Yes. If you paid annually within the last 12 months, you already have a perpetual license. If you’ve been on a monthly subscription for 12 consecutive months or more, you’ve also earned one. Your perpetual license will be applied automatically when you update to the new version of EMU. No extra purchase needed.
